Vampire Killer
Leon Belmont, formerly a knight of the 11th century. Originally born in 1072, he was knighted at the age of sixteen and was a good friend of Mathias Cronqvist. When his love, Lady Sara Trantoul, was kidnapped by Walter Bernhard, he goes into action, entering the forest unarmed.
He met a man named Rinaldo Gandolfi, who gifted him with a whip imbued by alchemy. With this whip, he begins to challenge the enemies of this forest to gain back his love - eventually finding out that Rinaldo's daughter was taken by Walter as well. This motivates him - because Rinaldo has become his friend, and he also has been wronged by Walter.
When he confronts Walter in the castle, he gets Sara back - but the damage has been done. Rinaldo confirms that she has become tainted, a vampire, and she sacrifices herself to combine with the whip to create the Vampire Killer.
He fights Walter to find out - that someone else was pulling the strings.
Mathias Cronqvist, who he thought was ill after the death of his wife, Elisabetha. Mathias had been manipulating all of them - Leon, Sara, Rinaldo, and even Walter, to gain the spirit of a vampire so he could be reborn. He tells Leon to join him - and, like all men, Leon declines. He vows that his clan would forever hunt Mathias so that one day, peace would fall onto Europe.
